The Crown season 3: Helena Bonham Carter steps off jet as Princess Margaret wearing a fur and shades

Filming for season 3 of The Crown is well underway, with Helena Bonham Carter and Olivia Colman shooting a scene on Sunday at an airfield in London.

Olivia – who plays Queen Elizabeth II in the Netflix drama series – appeared to be boarding a plane in the scene, as Helena – as Princess Margaret – looked to be disembarking it.

Behind Helena was actor Harry Treadaway in the role of Margaret’s ‘toyboy’ Roddy Llewellyn.

Both swept off the jet wearing heavy coats and shades looking unprepared to chat to any of the crowd waiting down on the tarmac.

Brunette locks swept above her head in an apt bouffant, Helena, 52, looked sternly forward, shades covering her eyes, a thick brown fur coat over her shoulders.

She kept things autumnal in brown leather gloves and a matching dress with cream detailing.

Harry, 34, wore a camel trench over a red shirt and khaki slacks, seen hurrying down the plane steps after Helena, also wearing sunglasses despite the overcast weather.

The plane was a British Air Force vessel, with a Union Jack flag emblazoned on the door. The pair were seen being ushered into a waiting chauffeur-driven car

It’s thought that the scene depicts the moment Margaret and Roddy arrived home from the Caribbean island of Mustique in 1976.

With whisperings surrounding their romantic jaunt, the pair came home to face the media and the public.

The real-life pair were famously pictured canoodling on a beach that year – the first of a series of marriage scandals that would dog the Royal Family for two decades.

Helena and Harry have already been spotted shooting the famous beach scenes, back in October.

The Queen’s younger sister – then 45 and married to Lord Snowdon – was famously snapped with landscape gardener Llewellyn, 28, in swimsuits. By then the couple were nearly three years into what would be an eight-year affair.

Within weeks of the photographs being published, Margaret and Snowdon announced their separation. They divorced in 1978, with season 3 set to cover this.
