The exact time of day your partner is most likely to cheat

While many believe there’s no method behind when a partner cheats for the first time, new research has found that there is a ‘peak time’ for adultery.

A recent Australian survey of 1,000 people who admitted to an affair found that 6.45pm on a Friday evening is the time cheating is most likely to occur.

It was also found that ‘a social night with co-workers’ was the most common excuse given as to why they wouldn’t be home on time.

‘Cheats are creatures of habit,’ Illicit Encounters spokesperson Christian Grant told Women’s Health.

Mr Grant said that if your partner regularly goes out with work colleagues on a Friday night, you’d be well within your rights to be suspicious.

Those who do cheat on a Friday are also more likely to plan a romantic Saturday night date with their partner to make up for it.

‘The Saturday night date is partly due to guilt over the Friday night liaison,’ he added.

The results also found that those engaged in an extra-marital tryst saw their affair partner an average of two times a week.

Additionally, 64 per cent  of respondents said they preferred a regular routine as opposed to random encounters as a way of throwing their partner off the scent.

‘Having a regular routine means that cheats can stick to the same script when being asked about their whereabouts – making it less likely their affair is rumbled,’ the spokesperson said.

A new survey by dating service Ashley Madison has also revealed some enlightening information about those who cheat.

More than half of the women who took part in the questionnaire said being upfront about what they needed made cheating easy because people were receptive to honestly.

Another factor which helped, according to 43 per cent of respondents, was being ‘mentally ready’ – a state of mind the survey explained allowed those considering an extra-marital liaison to make a conscious choice.

Reasons why cheaters find it easier to start an affair

I am open about what I need and people are receptive to that

I’m mentally ready to have an afffair

There are lots of people open to being in an affair

I have lots of time to meet with my affair partner(s)

‘Looking at the numbers, we can see females have success when they’re open about what they want, and when we look at men seeking affairs, it’s clear they find that cheating is easier when people are open and honest,’ said sex and relationship therapist, Dr. Tammy Nelson.

‘Of course, being open and honest with their spouse about their wants and needs seems like it would be a priority, but it’s not always easy to communicate in a marriage.

‘So opening up to someone who is going through similar stress at home or talking openly with someone about what you truly desire might be a factor in sharing honestly with a potential affair partner –  maybe it’s the pressure itself that takes some of the pressure off.’
