The heartbreaking 000 call made by a five-year-old girl in Queensland

This is the heartbreaking emergency call made by a young girl who saved her father’s life. 

Addison O’Brien, then five, was at her Queensland home with her three-year-old brother and their father last year.

When the young girl left her bedroom she found her father unconscious on the floor.

She quickly called Triple-0 to report the emergency, telling the operator: ‘My daddy is on the floor.’

Addison was asked multiple questions by the operator about whether or not her father was breathing, if his eyes were shut.

She was then told to unlock her front door and to lead the policeman to her father, and police were able to act accordingly. 

The audio was released by Queensland Police, bringing attention to Addison’s bravery during a difficult situation. 

On Friday, the now seven-year-old was awarded a certificate of appreciation for her bravery and calmness during the emergency. She also met the officer who took her emergency call.

Police Minister Mark Ryan MP joined officers from the Police Communications Centre at Police Headquarters awarded Addison with the certificate, a junior police cap, and a koala cop.

As a result of Addison’s call, police were able to arrive swiftly and ensure her father received the medical attention he needed.

She was then joined by Minister Ryan who along with Communications Group Inspector Kim Kellaway who commended Addison for her maturity. 

‘Making a call to Triple Zero can be one of the most stressful experiences a person may ever go through but Addison managed the situation perfectly for someone of her age,’ Inspector Kellaway said.

‘We were very pleased to meet with Addison and her family today to acknowledge her efforts and to highlight her actions as an example to everyone.’ 

‘On behalf of the people of Queensland I congratulate Addison for the recognition she has received today and wish her and her family all the best,’ Minister Ryan said.
