The Queen brought a splash of colour to a grey day when she stepped out in a yellow ensemble for church in Sandringham this morning. 

The monarch, 92, donned a yellow hat with a black rim and feathers, matching it with an eye-catching coat in the same shade. 

Sitting in the back seat of a car, the Queen appeared in good spirits as she arrived for the service at St Mary Magdalene Church, near the royal estate in Norfolk.  

But there was no sign of the Duke of Edinburgh this morning, as it was announced yesterday he would voluntarily gave up his driving licence.

She finished the look with a pearl necklace and wrapped up against the chilly temperatures in a camel overcoat. 

The Queen looked happy as she sheltered from the rain, in the back of her maroon Bentley, with a blue blanket over her knees to keep her warm she waved at the waiting crowds. 

Still on her winter break, the monarch looked elegant as she paired her bright outfit with a beige rain coat, a pink lipstick and a pearl necklace.    

At the church service she was greeted by Sandringham rector the rev Jonathan Riviere, while she was also accompanied by a Lady in Waiting, for the 50 minute service.

Around 30 well-wishers braved the rain to get a glimpse of the Queen when as she attended the service, having to pass through security as they entered the church.
