Three in custody and 837 cannabis plants seized after raid

Three people are in custody in Victoria after police raided eight homes in a week-long drug bust operation. 

Two men and a woman have been arrested and a large number of plants were seized as police targeted crop houses.

Detectives from the Melton Crime Investigation Unit seized a total of 837 cannabis plants and a firearm.

Search warrants were executed at eight homes in the Brookfield, Melton West, Rockbank, Caroline Springs and Burnside Heights areas throughout the week.

A 53-year-old woman was arrested at a Melton West house on Wednesday, charged with cultivating a commercial quantity of cannabis, possessing cannabis, trafficking cannabis and theft.

She was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on March 8.

Investigators arrested a 26-year-old man at his Caroline Springs home on Thursday.

He was also charged with cultivating, possessing and trafficking cannabis and theft.

The 26-year-old was bailed and will appear at Sunshine Magistrates’ Court on March 19.

A 31-year-old man was arrested at a Burnside Heights home on Friday morning, after detectives seized a small number of plants.

The man was bailed and will appear at Sunshine Magistrates’ Court on the March 23, charged with cultivating and possessing cannabis and theft.

Operation Neckties is ongoing and Victoria Police believe more arrests are likely.
