A man has died after he was found unconscious and suffering serious head injuries at a busy train station on Sunday.

Police remain at the scene at Perth’s Victoria Park station, where the injured man, believed to be aged in his 50s, was discovered on the footbridge just before 5.30pm.

He was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital, where he died a short time later.

Western Australia Police confirmed a man had died but did not reveal how he sustained the injuries, WA Today reported.

An altercation reportedly occurred in the station car park between two men and a woman before his body was found, 9 News reported. 

Western Australia Police were unable to provide further details to Daily Mail Australia.

The public has been urged to avoid the area.

The station remained closed to commuters on Sunday night, with trains on the Armadale and Thornlie lines not stopping at the station ‘due to a police incident’. 

Replacement buses are running between Burswood and Carlisle stations.
