Tyrell Cobb’s ‘evil’ mother loses an appeal against her nine-year sentence for killing the four-year-old boy

  • Heidi Strbak was denied time off her jail sentence after she lost an appeal
  • She was convicted for the murder of her four-year-old son Tyrell Cobb in 2009
  • Tyrell Cobb died after two blows to his abdomen that caused internal bleeding

Heidi Strbak has failed to shave time off her jail sentence for killing her four-year-old son Tyrell Cobb.

The child died after two separate blows to his abdomen that caused internal bleeding and the leaking of his stomach contents at his Gold Coast home on the night of May 24, 2009.

Strbak appealed her nine-year jail sentence on Tuesday on the grounds she did not inflict the blunt-force injuries to Tyrell’s abdomen.

Tyrell suffered 53 bruises and 17 abrasions to his leg when he died.

Strbak was convicted of his manslaughter in December 18, 2017 before being handed a non-parole period of four years.

Detective Sergeant Marcus Edwards said last year he was sure the right person had been convicted.

‘I’m satisfied we got the right person,’ he told The Courier Mail.

‘Without knowing anything about the case people just saw meek and mild Heidi Strbak and thought: “Well, she just looks like a mum”. People truly don’t understand how evil she is.’

More to come.
