A United Airlines flight bound from Houston to Minneapolis had an unscheduled landing once due to weather, and was diverted a second time to Green Bay Wisconsin, where it skidded off the runway.

The frighting incident happened early Friday, and United says thankfully no one was injured on Flight 878.

‘We are in contact with all customers and are providing alternate transportation options including flights and buses,’ the airline said in a statement.

Customers who had an already rough ride, landing once before in Madison, Wisconsin, were again diverted to Green Bay, where the plane skidded 250-feet off the runway

‘Customers were also provided meals and hotel accommodations.’

According to airport officials in Green Bay the plane ‘ran off the end of the runway by about 250 feet,’ carrying the passengers and crew on the Boeing 737-900 at the time, reports ABC News.

Passenger Tom DeSimio tells CBS News there were roughly 160 passengers on board.

The plane first landed in Madison, Wisconsin, before attempting to continue on to Minneapolis, but the weather was still bad enough that the flight was diverted the second time to Green Bay.

‘When the plane landed, the pilot hit the brakes in full reverse, and it got really bumpy.’ DeSimio says that is when he realized something went wrong.

DeSimio said it took 45 minutes to deplane in Green Bay.

‘The captain did a good job of communicating with people as they got off and was very apologetic,’ DeSimio adds.

The weather on the ground in Green Bay was around 33 degrees after a good amount of overnight rainfall, although it is unclear exactly what caused the plane to skid off the runway.
