Vegan graffiti scrawled across popular Melbourne bridge

Vegan graffiti has emerged in Melbourne, with phrases such as ‘if you love animals don’t eat them’ scrawled across a popular walkway.

The colourful slogans appeared to have been written in chalk across Princess Bridge, over the iconic Yarra River.

The words appeared beneath the crests on the bridge, the sidewalk, and even on a walkway near Hamer Hall and the Southbank Promenade.

Among the messages was one that compared consuming animal by products to the suffering of animals.

‘Dairy, eggs and meat = torture, misery, animal abuse, death,’ it read.

While others said ‘if you love animals don’t eat them’ and ‘choose vegan’, with a website address also scribbled across the floor.

Photos of the graffiti were posted to social media following their appearance, with some praising the efforts.

‘Saw these awesome messages over the Yarra on Saturday. High five to whoever wrote them,’ one woman wrote.

It follows a face-off between vegans and meat eaters in September that saw other slogans spray-painted across fences in Greensborough in the city’s north-east.

The feud began in July after a resident sprayed ‘Eat Vegan’ in large black block letters on the fence before it was replaced with ‘Say No To Tofu’.

Residents in nearby Briar Hill said they had also noticed other forms of pro-vegan graffiti around their suburb.
