Young video game addicts are being targeted with caffeine-heavy pills and powders that help them play non-stop.

Supplement companies like ‘Sneak’ and ‘GG’ are promoting products that promise to help gamers improve their concentration, reflexes and ability to play for extended periods, even all through the night.

The development comes as professional video game athletes who are being drug-tested for banned substances such as Adderall and amphetamines, the Daily Telegraph reported.

‘We won’t settle for fuelling out game with sugar-filled canned energy drinks that pump us up then drag us down,’ the Sneak website reads.

One cup of the Sneak company’s product contains 150mg of caffeine.

‘GG can last between 5-6 hours! The best part is… unlike sugar-loaded canned energy drinks, there’s NO CRASH,’ the GG website reads.

Despite there being no sugar and no calories in GG, a cup of the contents contains 100mg of caffeine, which is what you would find in a cup of coffee.

AMA President Dr Tony Bartone slammed the companies for promoting unhealthy behaviours and putting children’s lives at risk with long-term effects of ‘dehydrations, dizziness, heart palpitations and anxiety,’ he told Daily Telegraph.

He thinks the marketing would put children’s lives at risk and cause them to overuse the substance.

Dr Bartone also said there is ‘no reason for children and teenagers to take supplements which keep them up playing games and for ridiculous numbers of hours’.
