Meet the adorable sausage dog who thinks he’s a kangaroo.

Hilarious footage of the curious dog trying to copy the Australian marsupial while watching them in action has gone viral worldwide.

Posted on YouTube on Wednesday, the 33 second clip captures the very cute King Kingsley proudly standing up on his hind legs and watching a mob of roos bound past his home on the Gold Coast in Queensland.

But when the two-year-old wanders off to hopefully make some new friends, the startled kangaroos disperse and bound off into the distance.

‘He might have a bouncy personality, but this Insta-famous sausage dog has yet to learn that he is not in fact a kangaroo,’ the YouTube description states.

King Kingsley’s owner Emma Hill, 25, told Caters her curious canine often chases after the marsupials.

‘This is the first time I have seen him try to imitate a kangaroo,’ Ms Hill said.

‘He usually chases after them or sneaks up on them, one time he snuck up on one and nearly got his tail. The first time he saw the mob he had this itch to chase after them. We live on a golf course, so we get a lot of roos.’

Snaps show the very sociable pooch hitting the beach, getting behind the wheel of a car, having a swim, enjoying a coffee, taking a bike ride with his devoted owner and even enjoying a cocktail with dinner.

But Ms Hill often worries her pooch might be getting too close for comfort with the native wildlife – and says she keeps a vigilant eye on him.

‘I worry about him getting too close to the kangaroos as are they are wild and not pet friendly! It would be putting him in danger.’
