Video shows Florida motorist, 70, using Bond like SHIELD to cover his licence plate from cops

Bond, jail bond: Robert Craig Davis, 70, was arrested on charges for organized fraud and petty theft on November 17

A Florida motorist, 70, showed off some 007-style gadgetry when he was spotted using a remote controlled shield to cover his license plates from toll cameras.

Robert Craig Davis, was arrested on charges for organized fraud and petty theft on November 17 after cops noticed the gadget.

A similar roll-down license plate cover famously featured in Goldfinger.

Sammy and Mayte Salinas filmed a video showing a burgundy minivan work to hide its license plate by having a black shield roll down over the plate.

The minivan successfully cloaks its license numbers as it rolls through the Dolphin Expressway toll.

Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Alejandro Camacho had been off duty when he saw Davis’ Chrysler Pacifica pull off the stunt on November 17.

Camacho followed the minivan as it passed through the Bird Road toll plaza on Florida’s Turnpike and alerted other FHP troopers.

Davis was eventually stopped at the six mile marker on the Turnpike by Sergeant Carlos Vanegas, a arrest report states according to the FLKeysNews.com.

Troopers Vanegas and Dennis Gallo found a remote controlled device in Davis’ vehicle upon searching it. They learned that the controls operated the license plate ‘curtain.’

FHP officials also found a SunPass transponder inside a static shield bag in the minivan’s glove compartment that was ‘not properly affixed to this vehicle’s window for use.’

‘The actions of the defendant showed an ongoing course of conduct with intent to defraud the SunPass toll system,’ Gallo added.

Davis was booked on Saturday but has since posted bail.

When Sammy and Mayte initially shared the video with CBS4 and authorities, they had been unable to pinpoint Davis to the car as the plate came back to an address not associated with him.

Covers can from $15 to anywhere over $100.
