You might think your skin looks smooth after applying makeup. But have you ever taken a look at your complexion underneath a microscope?
You might not want to after reading this.
Beauty blogger Tina Yong, from Sydney, recently examined her face – both before putting any makeup on and once she’d applied her regular products, and the results are pretty disturbing.
From under-the-skin spots to baby hairs the naked eye can’t see, here FEMAIL takes a look at what Tina found.

Speaking on her YouTube channel, the blogger (pictured) first said that she was taking a look at her skin under a microscope because it was something her fans were keen on
Speaking on her YouTube channel, the blogger first said that she was taking a look at her skin under a microscope because it was something her fans were keen on:
‘I bought this microscope for $10 or $20 online and this baby can zoom up to 1,000 times zoom,’ Tina outlined.
She then got to work, starting with her cheek area, before moving on to a under-the-surface pimple on her cheeks.
‘Guys, guys, what is that?,’ Tina said when she saw the zit.
‘That looks so bad, that looks really bloody… It kind of looks like Jello,’ she exclaimed, saying she didn’t expect the experiment to look so ‘graphic’ up close.
When looking at her under-the-surface pimple without makeup, Tina said: ‘That looks so bad, that looks really bloody… It kind of looks like Jello’
The most scarring area of all was her eyelashes (pictured without makeup). Tina said: ‘I’ve got all these little black dots in my eyelashes from mascara I haven’t taken off’
Next, the beauty blogger moved onto her chin – which she quickly discovered was porous and ‘pretty oily’.
‘When I stretch my skin, eugh, you can see how much oil I have sitting on my skin, and a lot of little broken capillaries or veins or something,’ Tina said.
She then took her microscope to her upper lip and eyebrows, before heading to the most scarring area of all – her eyelashes.
‘This is my eyelashes, woah,’ she said. ‘This is insane, I’ve got all these little black dots in my eyelashes from mascara I haven’t taken off. This is not good guys.’
When she had applied her makeup to the zit (pictured), Tina said she could see the foundation and concealer. ‘It just looks like an alien right now,’ she explained
Meanwhile, her lashes with mascara (pictured) were dubbed ‘scary’. ‘I’ve got little spiders for eyelashes,’ she said – adding that it looked like ‘the end of the world’
The blogger (pictured) has a huge following online, some four million of which watched her latest microscope video
But the worst was yet to come, as Tina discovered when she applied a full face of her usual makeup.
Tina found that she could quickly see her highlighter all over her cheeks, as well as little layers of foundation, concealer and highlighter on her pimple.
‘It just looks like an alien right now,’ she said.
She also likened her mascara-d eyelashes to a ‘forest burned down’:
‘Oh my lord, oh my lord, I’ve got little spiders for eyelashes,’ the blogger exclaimed. ‘It’s like the end of the world guys. My eyelashes could be a horror movie right now.’
Tina’s (pictured) commenters have not been hesitant in sharing their views of the video either – with some describing it as ‘freakishly satisfying’ and others saying it was ‘scary’
