- We’ve all experienced the temptation to send a text to an ex
- Screenshots shared online prove it’s rarely a good idea to hit send
- Capture cheeky propositions – and outrageous put-downs in return
We’ve all been there; alone, unoccupied, and thinking about an old flame.
But these screenshots shared online around the world are proof that texting an ex is rarely a sensible idea.
Lots of women on the receiving end of cheeky propositions from former partners used pictures – or a carefully chosen emoji – to deliver the message they struggled to sum up in words, such as an image of an appalled-looking Miranda Hart in response to an offer to ‘cuddle’.
Other hopeful messages were met with a firm ‘no’, or worse still, ‘who’s this?’
The next time your mind wanders to a past love, a scroll through these screengrabs will make you think twice before reaching for your phone.
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and the recipient of this message agrees
Apparently the offer of a night in with 24 churros and a bottle of ranch dressing didn’t appeal
This woman used a picture of an appalled Miranda Hart to get her message across
Harsh delivery: If your ex just isn’t getting the message, a rude meme might do the trick
Put down: Even if you’re still hung up on your ex, there’s no guarantee they feel the same way
This girl decided to come clean when she heard from a hopeful suitor
Awkward: Saving someone in your phone under a joke name is all well and good… until they text you months later and you can’t remember who they are
Presumably a screenshot of Spongebob Squarepants is not the response this lovelorn texter was hoping for
When honesty isn’t the best policy: The recipient of this message took a frank approach, and it worked
These days, we don’t even need actual words to give an ex partner the brush off
A ‘respectful’ attempt to acquire a saucy photo from an ex-girlfriend goes down like a lead balloon in this text exchange
Getting to the heart of the matter: Sometimes people have an ulterior motive for reaching out to an ex
Another woman turns to a picture to say what she can’t quite sum up in words
‘Ouch’: This man’s cheeky proposition received a firm no from his ex-girlfriend
No room for misunderstanding: This tentative approach via text was immediately shot down
