Who is Bishop Briggs?
Bishop Briggs is a singer and musician best-known for her hit song River. She recently appeared on American Idol and will release her debut album Church of Scars on April 20.
She was born in London as Sarah Grace McLaughlin on July 18, 1992 to parents originally from the town of Bishopbriggs, Scotland.
Briggs expressed interest in music at a young age, even as her family relocated to Tokyo and Hong Kong. She wrote her first song at just seven years old and later attended the Musician’s Institute in Los Angeles, California.
While in Los Angeles, she began performing in small venues and was eventually discovered by a talent scout in 2015. She soon recorded her debut single Wild Horses under the name Bishop Briggs in honor of her parents’ hometown, with the song making waves in late 2016 on the Billboard Alternative Songs and Emerging Artists charts in the United States.
