Wife of Rangers legend Brian Leetch ‘attacked staff at NYC bar’

The wife of New York Rangers legend Brian Leetch and her socialite sister have been accused of attacking staff at an Upper East Side bar after they were asked to leave.

Mary Beth Leetch, 49, and Tracy Murphy, 44, and a female friend, were having drinks at Brandy’s Piano bar on May 12 when they were asked to leave at around 2am, the New York Post reports.

But sources say that they got into a dispute after they refused to pay their $33 drinks tab.

The wife of New York Rangers legend Brian Leetch (Brian and wife Mary Beth Leetch together in 2010) and her socialite sister have been accused of attacking staff at an Upper East Side bar after they were asked to leave

‘We don’t pay for drinks,’ they allegedly told staff. ‘Gentlemen pay for our drinks.’

Leetch, a mother of three, and Murphy, a mother of six, apparently turned on staff, many of whom are moonlighting actors and singers, as they tried to get them to leave the bar.

One of them reportedly shouted at bartender Greg Goodbrod, 45: ‘You’re fat, you’re ugly and that’s why you’ll never make it on Broadway!’

Another grabbed waitress Maria Gentile, 55, by the hair and dragged her outside, the source said.

They began banging on the windows of bar to demand someone bring them Murphy’s cellphone which she’d left inside. But when it was returned to her, she allegedly threw it in the face of a friend of Gentile’s, splitting his lip.

‘They were like a pack of mongrels,’ the witness said. ‘I’ve never seen two skinny, innocent-looking people act like that.’

The bar staff called the cops and Leetch and Murphy, who is married to Rosecliff Capital hedge funder Michael Murphy, were arrested and charged with assault, harassment and criminal mischief over the incident but released on desk appearance tickets.

The NYPD said the women accused of assault were not held for arraignment because they had no previous arrests and were not flight risks.

Goodbrod, who says he was also left bleeding in the attack, has now filed a Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit he filed last week. Gentile suffered injuries to her shoulder and hand, which was scarred in the attack, her lawyer told The Post, adding she was expected to file her own suit.

The sisters, however, tell a very different story.

Painting them as the victims of the story, their lawyer Joe Mure claims they visited Brandy’s after dinner but were immediately made to feel unwelcome and were ‘abused’ when they failed to buy drinks straight away.

He said that as the pair were ushered out, the door was closed on one of their arms, leaving it bruised.

‘Unfortunately these ladies went through a terrible night they will never forget,’ the attorney said.

Leetch and Murphy’s father, George O’Neill Jr., owns the Queens institution O’Neill’s Restaurant – famed for being where the 1986 New York Mets went to celebrate their World Championship.

Leetch’s husband Brian, 50, was a legendary Rangers star and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2009. His number 2 was retired to the rafters of Madison Square Garden in 2008, one year after he retired from the sport.
