Devoe’s 34-year-old co-worker, whose identity was not released, advised his friend to drive past the Thorndike Exchange, where they had been working, to the Gallagher Intermodal Terminal next door.

According to a police report, Devoe stopped in the terminal parking lot and the other driver, later identified as 20-year-old Paulino pulled up next to them.

The co-worker told police that Devoe and Paulino ‘were yelling back and forth at each other’ when he saw Paulino reach in her waistband. The co-worker told Devoe to get back in the car and leave.

Devoe pulled out of the parking lot, and Paulino followed.

The police report states that Devoe pulled over on the terminal’s access road under a bridge, got out of his car and stood on the side of the road. As Paulino drove past she fired a single gunshot at Devoe, the co-worker told police.

Devoe got back in his car and tried to drive after Paulino but crashed the car. Witnesses said Devoe then got out of the car before collapsing.

The co-worker performed CPR until first reponders arrived. Devoe was rushed to Lowell General Hosptial/Main Campus, where he was pronounced dead at 1:15pm.

Officers later found Paulino’s abandoned car and tracked her down to a building on Grand street, where she had been hiding in a stairwell. She was arrested without incident around 11pm Thursday, about 10 hours after the shooting.

According to the Lowell Sun, police also discovered that Paulino had seemingly bragged about the shooting on Facebook, writing: ‘Tried to warn Em tried to tell Em told Em stop that you my son don’t make me spank you’.

Police said she wrote the post around 2:30pm on Thursday.

‘We believe, at this point, that this is a random incident as a result of a possible road rage incident,” Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said at a press conference announcing Paulino’s arrest.

Paulino was arraigned on Friday on a single count of murder and is being held without bail. She faces life in prison with no chance of parole if convicted.
