A tiny black speck of what appeared to be black matter is surrounded by tangled mass of string.

The supermarket said they are investigating.

Online, commenters were quick to echo her concerns with one suggesting it was a string from a mop and another predicting ‘netting from its produce’.

Woolworths invited Ms Cole to message their page privately following the discovery and later revealed they had been in touch since.

‘At Woolworths we take food safety very seriously,’ a Woolworths spokesperson said.

‘We’ve been in touch with the customer directly and will be looking into the claim.
