Woman discovers family photos in projector she bought from Goodwill

A woman dressed to the nines in an evening gown, holding a glass of champagne. A young girl opening presents on Christmas day. A baby laughing in a front yard.

These are just a few of the photos one Georgia woman discovered when she bought an old Argus slide projector from Goodwill.

Kristie Baeumert had been at a Goodwill in Tyrone, where she often shops for children’s clothes, when she spotted the projector.

Tucked inside the projector's case was a whole box of slides belonging to a mystery family

Baeumert thought the projector would be perfect for viewing the boxes of slides her late grandmother had left behind.

But she was shocked to find that the old projector’s case had a whole treasure of slides already inside.

‘I started looking at them out of curiosity and kind of fell in love with this beautiful family,’ Baeumert wrote on Facebook this week.

Baeumert was fascinated with the family’s photos, which she believes are from the 1960s. They traveled often, wore gorgeous clothes, and definitely knew how to pose.

One photo features a woman in sunglasses and a flowing dress, posing next to a car that we would now call ‘vintage’.

There is a vacation photo snapped at Nagasaki Peace Park in Japan, and another shot at Wake Island – one of the most isolated islands in the world where military planes often stop to refuel.

Some photos are tinted in pinks and purples, while others are in bright yellow.

Baeumert said she was ‘instantly obsessed’ with the family in the photos.

‘They just look so happy,’ she told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. ‘They wanted to take pictures together all the time. I feel like I know the family now.’

‘I made my whole family look at them. My friends came over and I was like, “We’re going to look at these slides!'”

But there was little hint of where the photos actually originated.

There is little hint as to where the photos came from. While Baumert bought the projector in Georgia, the carton it came with says 'Kansas'

While Baeumert bought the projector in Georgia, the carton it came with says ‘Kansas’ in pencil and one of the cars in the photo has a Colorado license plate.

Now Baeumert is sharing the photos on social media, hoping she may be able to return them.

‘Because the internet is a magical place, I thought I would share them and see if they could possibly make their way back to someone in the family,’ she wrote on Facebook.

‘I would love to pass them back to their rightful place.’
