Woman impulsively buys $2million Sydney home

A new home was the last thing on the mind of a Sydney businesswoman who took her dog for a walk around her neighbourhood one evening two weeks ago.

But just two weeks later, she’s become the new home owner of a $2,032,500 town house, realestate.com reports.

The multi-million dollar property was snapped up by the unexpected buyer after ‘she saw the (for sale) sign and thought it looked lovely,’ according to Belle Property Balmain agent Monique Dower.

The stunning two-storey home in the prestigious area of Birchgrove won the buyer over with its Harbour Bridge views and lavish modern renovations.

She was clearly impressed by the main bedroom’s sparkling new en suite and the kitchen’s Caesarstone quartz lined bench tops.

While the final selling price was below the reserve amount, previous owners said they were happy to leave the property behind for just over two million.

The buyer outbid a professional couple who had apparently been shopping around for a long time.

Bidding started at $1.85 million before a series of $50,000 exchanges were made, then some $25,000, $10,000, $5000 and finally, $500.

The home, at 8 Spring Street, is a traditional freestanding terrace and features a private grassed garden stepping up to a sun-soaked terrace.

A short walk to the wharf and the centre of the city, plus nearby Darling Street attractions and waterfront Birchgrove Oval or Mort Bay Park is sure to keep the woman, and her pooch happy.
