Woman reveals how paedophiles passed her around like a sex toy from the age of 13

A mother-of-two whose ‘best friend’ forced her to have sex with more than 40 men from the age of 13 has written a book revealing her abuse.

Samantha Owens, now 25, has documented the three years she was passed around a Sheffield ‘sex ring’ and raped by ‘paedophiles’ in her book Pimped.

In one shocking encounter when Samantha was aged 13, a man asked her how old she was and ‘sneered’ when she told him she was 16.

‘Liar’, he said, ‘I know you’re not 16’.

And unsatisfied when she told him her real age she was forced to lie and say she was 11 before he grinned and brutally raped her.

Samantha remembers another man who hit her in the face and asked her to call him ‘Daddy’.

Another repeatedly punched the floor by her head as he raped her.

Aged just 13, Samantha had befriended Amanda Spencer, then 16, at Sheffield’s Castle Market.

Spencer bought her brand new trainers and plied her with legal highs.

‘She always seemed to have a lot of cash on her,’ Samantha told the Sun.

Before long Spencer told her friend, who was a virgin, she could make her own money by letting men have sex with her.

Brought to a house with five men inside, Samantha was raped three times before Spencer collected her the next morning.

‘My heart was hammering in my chest, tears streaming down my cheeks as he raped me,’ she told the Sun.

‘The pain was unbearable, but it was just the start. I was raped twice more before Amanda collected me the next morning.

‘After that I felt completely lost and broken.’

Years of systematic abuse followed with her ordeal ending in 2009 when Samantha, aged 18, was sent to a Youth Detention Centre for stealing and told another girl what had happened.

‘It was in that moment that I realised Amanda was no friend of mine.

‘I was just a kid, and what she did was sick, twisted and wrong.

‘Eventually I opened up to a youth worker and then the police,’ Samantha said.

A month later Samantha was released without charge and an investigation into Spencer began.

Taleb Bapir was sentenced to 10 years in prison for one count of rape

Matthew Whiteley was sentenced to seven years in prison for one child prostitution offence

Among the men jailed were brothers Christopher, 23, Matthew (pictured right), 25 and Shane Whiteley, 30. Amanda Spencer and Taleb Bapir (pictured left), 39 were found guilty of four counts of arranging child prostitution and rape

Samantha told how she was plied with alcohol and was often too drunk to know what was happening to her.

She said: ‘There were some nights I wished I could forget.

‘For three years my supposed best friend took me to places around Sheffield to be abused.

‘I was passed from house to house like a toy and, with nowhere else to turn, I came to expect the treatment I received.’

Christopher Whiteley was sentenced to 15 years in prison for four counts of rape, one child prostitution offence, two counts of sexual assault on a child under 13 and one count of theft

Shane Whiteley was sentenced to eight years for one child prostitution offence

Spencer emotionally manipulated Samantha in to having sex with more than 40 men over three years.

She called Samantha ‘sister’ and made her feel part of her ‘tribe’.

Samantha added: ‘Out of nowhere, this guy grabbed me and forced me onto the floor. I lay still as he raped me on the floorboards, thinking over and over again how proud Amanda would be of me.’

After the investigation into Spencer began, in September 2012, Samantha gave birth to a son.

And two years later, in 2014, Spencer was found guilty of 14 counts of arranging or facilitating child prostitution and two counts of inciting child prostitution.

Then aged 23 she was jailed for 12 years.

And in 2017 three more years were added to her sentence when she was found guilty of four counts of arranging or facilitating child prostitution between 2005 and 2012.

A total of five other men were found guilty of multiple sex offences including rape, sexual assault against a child under 13 and conspiracy to arrange child prostitution and theft.

The men jailed were brothers Christopher, 23, Matthew, 25 and Shane Whiteley, 30.

Spencer and Taleb Bapir, 39 were found guilty of four counts of arranging child prostitution and rape.

Peter Mann, from the CPS, said: ‘These defendants cynically targeted and sexually exploited young and vulnerable girls. The suffering the victims must have endured is hard to comprehend.’
