The young woman called for an ambulance at 1.10am on Thursday and paramedics talked her through how to control the bleeding until they arrived.

‘They said to me ‘we’ve been chopped, we’re really hurting’. One of them had blood gushing out of his head, there was blood everywhere,’ she told the Herald Sun.

‘I had to run in and out of my house to get towels because one of them was bleeding really bad.’

The victims’ mother praised Monica as an ‘angel’ who saved her sons from bleeding to death in the street.

‘Monica is a hero. I will forever be in this woman’s debt. She heard my boys and rushed out to save them. She saved their lives, I’m speechless,’ she said.
