Woolworths worker in cryptic Facebook post before tragic Central Coast car crash death

A man posted a cryptic message to Facebook moments before he died in a head-on collision where three other people were injured.

Supermarket worker Todd Talbot, 30, was killed when his Mitsubishi Lancer collided with a Range Rover Evoque on the New South Wales Central Coast last Wednesday.  

The occupants of the Range Rover – two elderly men, aged 70 and 91, and a woman – were taken to hospital suffering serious injuries.

The crash occurred about 11am on Wilfred Barrett Drive at Magenta and came within an hour after a social media post appearing on Mr Talbot’s page. 

‘Sorry but this was always my destiny #nomorefakesmilesfinallyhappy,’ said the post, which was published at 10.22am. 

Police said Mr Talbot’s car was driving south when it crossed onto the wrong side of the road and collided head-on with the Range Rover, police said.

The Woolworths Lake Haven staff member has been remembered by friends and colleagues as one of the ‘nicest people in the world’. 

‘Our thoughts and condolences are with his family and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time,’ a Woolworths spokesman said. 

‘We’ve been offering our support to team members at the store and will continue to do so’. 

The company arranged for counsellors to visit the store to support staff last week and has directly contacted the family to express its condolences on behalf of his colleagues. 

One supermarket worker said the store would not be the same without his smiling face.

The 91-year-old injured in the crash has been discharged from hospital while the 70-year-old man is in a stable condition. 

Officials could not confirm the female passenger’s condition, but it is understood she has been transferred to a smaller hospital. 

Immediately following the crash police said there was no clear cause to the incident.  

On Monday, a New South Wales police spokeswoman said a report has been prepared for the Coroner.

A HORROR SPATE OF CRASHES ON NEW SOUTH WALES ROADS

Seven people – including Todd Talbot, 30 – died in five separate crashes on New South Wales roads over just 48 hours last week.   

Assistant Police Commissioner Michael Corboy said: ‘To lose seven lives in the course of two days on our roads is nothing short of a tragedy.’ 

Investigations continue. 

  • WEDNESDAY: About 8.05am, a 74-year-old man died after his Jaguar sedan left the roadway whilst travelling south on the Hume Highway at Pheasants Nest.
  • WEDNESDAY: About 11am, a 30-year-old man died after his Mitsubishi Lancer collided with a Range Rover Evoque on Wilfred Barrett Drive at Norah Head, on the Central Coast.
  • WEDNESDAY: An 89-year-old woman died in hospital, after her Toyota Yaris reversed from the driveway of a home on Terrace Place at Sylvania and hit a neighbouring fence on Tuesday
  • WEDNESDAY: Just before 11.30pm , three people died after two cars collided on the Monaro Highway at Michelago, 40km south of Queanbeyan.
  • THURSDAY: A fatal crash occurred at Wellington just before 9.30am
