The Yorkshire Ripper has been rushed to hospital with heart problems, telling prison guards this Christmas ‘will be his last’.

Serial killer Peter Sutcliffe, 71, was rushed from his cell to the prison infirmary at HMP Frankland in County Durham feeling breathless and suffering chest pains.

The mass murderer, who butchered 13 women and tried to kill seven others, has been battling ill health for a number of years but has told prison bosses he will not make it to next Christmas, reports The Sun.

A source told the newspaper: ‘He was short of breath and then started having chest pains so the staff took him to the infirmary. They didn’t mess about.’

He allegedly requested to be sent back to Broadmoor Hospital to spend the festive season with his prison friends and escape Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman’s killer Ian Huntley, according to the Daily Star Sunday.

He had been locked up there since being convicted of his horrendous crimes in 1981, but was transferred to HMP Frankland last August.

This summer he was taken to hospital for £2,000 sight-saving surgery, sparking outrage from his victims’ families and taxpayers alike.

He was escorted out of jail for the procedure to correct his vision in August.

The killer reportedly told friends he was delighted with the outcome of the treatment, and that he is now able to watch television and write letters.

Neil Jackson, whose mother Emily was murdered by Sutcliffe in 1976, was angered by the pricey operation.

‘They should have let him go blind. He never had any pity on anyone so why should society bend over backwards to make him happy?’, Mr Jackson, 59, told The Sun.

The 71-year-old caused further fury when he demanded his ashes be scattered in the same region he butchered his victims.

He allegedly told friends he has updated his will to say he wants to be cremated after his death before being brought back ‘home’ to Yorkshire.

Speaking last month, Mr Jackson said: ‘There is no way he is coming back to Yorkshire.

‘He caused too much grief and anguish.

‘People will never forget what it was like when he was at large.’
