Breaking up with someone is hard but a pair of exes seem to have it all figured out when it comes to staying friends with one another.
YouTubers David Dobrik, 21, and Liza Koshy, 22, revealed in a six-minute video shared to the platform why they decided to break up after dating for two years.
The video, which has garnered more than 33 million views, sees the ex-couple go through a series of emotions from laughing and joking around within the first few minutes of the video to crying and sobbing just moments later.
Break up: YouTubers David Dobrik, 21, and Liza Koshy, 22, revealed the reason they decided to end their relationship in a video shared to YouTube
Upset: In the six-minute video, the pair both go through a roller coaster of emotions
Relationship: The ex-couple dated for two years but waited months to tell their fans they broke up
It starts with both David and Liza sitting down in front of the camera and David jokingly telling viewers that Liza cheated with seven guys that he found in her bedroom.
The jokes and laughter continue for a while but eventually, the pair reveal the reason for the video.
‘All jokes aside we are broken up,’ David says in the video. ‘Liza broke up with me six months ago. It wasn’t healthy for us to continue to be together – for now.’
But both were quick to add that they remain friends and while they may be broken up now, that doesn’t rule out the possibility of them one day getting back together.
The video then takes a brief break while the couple goes off-camera talking presumably talking about their relationship.
‘Does it look good,’ Liza says as she re-enters the camera frame with a face full of tears. ‘I want to go fix it but I also want it to be authentic.’
In tears: The video started with the pair laughing but moments later, Liza returned to the camera crying
Dealing with pain: During their YouTube video, Liza said that one of them ‘is going through some stuff’
‘One of us is going through some stuff,’ she adds, suggesting that she is the person being referred to.
‘It’s rough stuff but not stuff they can’t get through. It’s the kind of stuff that’s in Tumblr quotes like “Only time can heal” or “You have to love yourself before you can love anybody else”.
‘I didn’t know those were real – they’re real.’
‘This is going to sound so lame but I really want to spread love but I have to have it first you know? It’s like saying you’re going to spread mayonnaise when you only have mustard.’
David then goes on to add that Liza is the ‘best girl ever’ and that she truly is a genuine person who doesn’t have a bad bone in her body, which is why it’s so hard for him to see that she ‘feels not the best sometimes’.
In the video, the ex-couple admits that they didn’t tell their friends about their breakup for three months and their fans for six.
Friends: And although they may not be together, David said that Liza is the ‘best girl ever’
Having fun: In the video, David joked that if Liza finds another guy ‘we will destroy him’
Unconnected: Liza said that they were already living separate lives and neither of them were coming to terms with it
And despite their breakup, Liza admits that she doesn’t want anybody else but simply wants to remain friends with David who jokes in that if she finds another guy, ‘we will destroy him’.
David says: ‘Liza broke up with me because she felt like we have been kind of distant because we had just been so busy and as much as I hate to admit it, I was feeling that way too but I just don’t have the balls to pull the trigger on that to say we should take a little bit of a break.’
Liza adds: ‘We already felt like we were living separate lives which sucked but neither of us were coming to terms with it so I – I admit it – I decided we should breakup. We didn’t want to tell anybody because we were both so angry over the fact we distanced in the first place. I love him, he’s my best friend – it sucked.’
Liza then says how amazing she thinks David is and that he has been an amazing guy, best friend and rock for her for so long.
‘I don’t really cuss online guys but David is the s**t. You’re f*****g man,’ she says. ‘David is my best friend and he’s my rock and he’s not going anywhere so suck on that future girlfriend because this one’s mine!’
David then says that Liza is his best friend too and that their friendship is something that is truly one of a kind.
‘All the videos we made together were genuinely fun,’ he says. ‘I would see comments that would say, “They’re not like is” but it was beautiful online and genuinely the best two years of my life – hands down – I want to make that clear, the only things that’s different is that we’re not boyfriend and girlfriend anymore but we’re still best friends.’
Pals: Liza said that David is still her best best friend, an amazing guy and her rock
Development: Liza said that neither of them did anything to each other to cause a breakup but that they both just need time for healing and growth

Well-known: David was raised in Chicago and before his success on YouTube, he was a popular Vine star
Liza then goes on to say that neither of them did anything to each other to cause a breakup but that they both just need time for healing and growth.
‘We’re so young and I know that’s a thing everybody says and sometimes that’s a thing you disagree with and are like “What does that mean” but it means that we have a lot of growth and development and learning and loving for ourselves to do.’
Since the video was posted, fans have left comments expressing how sad they are over the fact that the couple is no longer together.
One person wrote: ‘They’re both funny but sad at the same time I don’t know whether to laugh or cry so I shall laugh hysterically in my puddle of tears k thanks bye.’
And another person commented: ‘I don’t know if I’m laughing or crying love you guys’ while another said: ‘Tbh I cried more when I found out you guys broke up more than when me and my bf broke up.’
