  • A YouTube tutorial by Viva Frei in Montreal, Canada, shows the steps for creating an over-the-top Jack-O-Lantern using butane gas and a flame
  • Frei starts by cutting off the top of the pumpkin and carving the facial features
  • He then cuts a small hole in the side for the butane and flame
  • Once the pieces are reassembled and the butane is added, he puts a flame to the hole and a fiery blast ejects the eyes and mouth

A YouTube tutorial teaches viewers how to create an exploding Jack-O-Lantern just in time for Halloween.

Viva Frei is in the kitchen with two of his young children filming the few simple steps to create the wacky Halloween decoration.

The video opens with a demonstration of the explosion before actually going into the tutorial.

After the gas is sprayed into a hole in the side of the pumpkin, a flame is applied

Immediately after the flame is applied the pieces pop out, releasing a fiery blast

The footage then cuts to Frei’s kitchen where he’s ready to show viewers how to make the exploding Jack-O-Lantern.

‘It’s extremely simple,’ he says.

He starts by cutting off the top of a pumpkin and then carving very simple pieces to make the face.

Once the triangle eyes and crooked mouth are cut, he scoops the seeds out of the center of the pumpkin.

Next he pokes a small hole in the side.

He then reassembles it with each of the pieces back in it’s original place.

Finally, he sprays a small amount of butane gas through the side hole and then holds a torch up to it.

Almost immediately the pumpkin pieces pop out, releasing a fiery blast that lasts for less than a second before disappearing.

The video was filmed on October 3 in Montreal, Canada.
