Zlatan Ibrahimovic has taken to Instagram to bid his former team-mate Henrikh Mkhitaryan farewell after the midfielder completed his transfer to Arsenal.

Ibrahimovic posted a photo of the pair celebrating after United’s Europa League final win last season to his Instagram story accompanied by the caption: ‘Luck you don’t need… so just enjoy your game.’

Mkhitaryan, who scored United’s second in the 2-0 win over Ajax to clinch the Europa League, was unveiled as an Arsenal player on Monday.

The midfielder joins Arsene Wenger’s side as part of the deal which sees Alexis Sanchez move to Old Trafford on a four-and-a-half year contract.

Mkhitaryan described the transfer as a ‘dream come true’ and revealed it had always been his ambition to play for Arsenal.

‘It’s a dream come true because I’ve always dreamed of playing for Arsenal,’ Mkhitaryan told the club’s website after his unveiling. ‘Now that I’m here, I’ll do my best for this club to create history.’

Mkhitaryan, who turned 29 on Sunday, joined United in the same summer as Ibrahimovic but struggled to establish himself in the first team under Jose Mourinho.

Ibrahimovic re-signed with United in August after he was released at the end of last season following a long-term knee injury.

The 36-year-old has scored just once in seven appearances since returning to Old Trafford – in the 2-1 Carabao Cup loss to Bristol City in December.
