Virtually any company needs business cards, leaflets, booklets, directories, etc. Realizing this need, firms turn to the printing house or advertising agency for help (and those, in turn, to the printing house). Due to the fact that the business printing segment is in second place in terms of profitability, many businessmen invest their money in it. And as often happens, most of these entrepreneurs do not have specialized knowledge in the field of printing. Because of this, problems arise between printing houses and customers.

We have prepared for you 10 factors that the customer considers when contacting any printing house:

Type of product

What products do you want to order? It can be business cards, leaflets, booklets, catalogs, folders, paper bags, posters, stickers, calendars, newspapers, annual reports, envelopes, cards, letterheads, wobblers, shelf talkers, growth figures, hard posters, checkpoints, palettes, dispensers, tags.

Product format

What is the material format of your product? It can be A1, A2, A3, A4, A5, A6, etc. If you do not know the format, just tell the approximate size in millimeters to your personal manager.

Paper Type

Coated matte or coated glossy is a popular method for printing in Brisbane. Less well known are designer paper and cardboard. All paper is different in density. If you are not aware of the type and density of paper, you can show your previously printed products to your personal manager or, using special catalogs, choose the new type and density of paper together.

Circulation

This is convenient because when printing a large print run, the cost of one “thing” is significantly reduced. If you need a small number of copies, you better contact the company offering digital printing method.

Colorful

What will be the beauty of your product? The color is one-color on one side (1 + 0), one-color on both sides (1 + 1), full-color on one side (4 + 0), full-color on both sides (4 + 4), full-color and one-color (4 + 1). Additional colors can also be used: gold, silver, and other colors according to the Pantone system.

If you doubt any printing term, you can explain to our manager in plain language what you want to get as a result. This is especially true of colorfulness and post-print finish. The printing house knows that the customer does not have to be a specialist in printing.

Bonding

To fasten printed sheets, select the type of bonding you need (paperclip, adhesive, spring coiling, etc.). As a rule, if you have no more than 20 sheets, choose a paperclip. This is the most economical option. For bonding large-volume products are used: adhesive seamless bonding – firstly, it is beautiful.

Secondly, if you, for example, are a construction company and want to emphasize the status of your product. Thirdly, it will be cheaper in cost than winding on a spring. Spring coiling is appropriate when you need to freely add sheets to products and use them daily: the unit will never fall apart. You can open pages 360 degrees. This option will cost more than a paper clip, but it will also look more prestigious. 7BC – a hardcover filament binding, where several document blocks are sewn into a single block. Appropriate for the design of doctoral, candidate, and diplomas. It can also be books, dictionaries, textbooks, and diaries.

The number of pages in a copy

When stapling, the number of pages should be a multiple of 4 (8-12-16). In other cases, the multiplicity of the pages does not matter.

Valid product manufacturing strings

It is agreed with the personal manager, individually whether the printing is sustainable or not. The quality of the ink and the durability of it should also be considered and discussed beforehand.

The presence and absence of ready-made design or text information

If you have the source, check out your technical requirements. If you need to create a layout, usually a manager is ready to accept your terms of reference. Just give them a call.

Post-print processing (the process of processing already printed products)

  • Scoring is the process of applying a fold line to a sheet. The fold line is needed to gently bend paper or cardboard. Due to this, the product does not crack when bent and does not change color. Most commonly used for invitations, folders, etc.
  • Lamination – coating a sheet with a protective glossy or matte film. Protects the product from mechanical damage. Gives the paper extra rigidity.
  • Folding – one folding fold – this is the usual folding in half of a sheet. Used for brochures, postcards, instructions, etc. Not suitable for paper with a density greater than 170 g /m
  • Felling – is performed using a pre-cut die, on which knives are located in a certain form. Felling allows you to give the product a shape other than rectangular. Used for wobblers, dispensers, shelf-talkers, tags, etc.
  • UV varnish – is needed to highlight the entire image or for its individual parts.
  • Foil stamping – the foil is printed to the material under the influence of high temperatures and remains on the product. With it, you can achieve brilliant or matte gold, silver, bronze colors.
  • Hot stamping is a type of embossing in which a relief image is obtained on the processed material.
  • Blind embossing is a type of embossing in which a depressed image is obtained on the processed material.

Summary

For regular printing orders, work directly with printers. With one-time small parties, you can work with intermediaries. A limited list of services or a diversified enterprise – depends on your needs. If you need a large circulation, there is enough time and you want to save money – choose offset. It is necessary quickly, in small circulation and the price does not matter – a figure. The cost of printing depends on the size of the print run, quality, format, speed of order execution. You can also ask printing managers about additional services and customer service. However, you can protect confidential information from distribution.
