Although Angel is only 12 years old, he showed no fear when he first entered the AGT stage to perform his song.

The audience and judges all appeared amazed by his voice once he opened his mouth to sing the Spanish ballad.

El Triste, which means ‘The Sad One’, is a ballad that was first performed in 1970 at the Latin Song Festival II by Mexican singer José José.

During the song, the singer confesses to longing for a loved one who is now lost to them. The song first took off in 1970 and has become a cultural icon for Mexican and Spanish music since.

Angel’s parents stood off in the curtains with host Tyra Banks while the young kid performed for judges Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum and Simon Cowel.

Before the soulful audition, Angel revealed that his father was the one who actually inspired him to start singing.

His audition was leaked online by AGT on Friday ahead of the auditions, which will air Tuesday, July 10.

It remains unclear if Angel moves onto the next round after his performance, but both Heidi and Mel B give him a standing ovation at the end to signal how impressed they are with his voice.

The young star could have also wow’d the judges into giving him a golden buzzer. If someone auditioning gets a golden buzzer, they get to move straight through to the live show instead of going through all the audition rounds.

Fans on YouTube commented on the clip of the young singer and praised his dynamic voice.

One person said that they couldn’t believe he was only 12 years old with how mature his voice sounded during the song.

Other fans are predicting that Heidi will use her golden buzzer to send the young singer through to the live shows.
