2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards winners list

Scarlett Johansson got a faceful of slime at the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards on Sunday evening after her husband Colin Jost mistook the ceremony for the Kids’ Choice Awards.

Scarlett was accepting the Generation Award for an impressive body of work going back to when she was just a teenager, until her SNL star husband hilarious ruined the moment.

‘Thank you so much for this award,’ the actress began. ‘Watching that reel, it reminds me of all the incredibly inspiring collaborators that I’ve been fortunate enough to work with for over three decades.’

Shocker: Scarlett Johansson got a faceful of slime at the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards on Sunday evening after her husband Colin Jost mistook the ceremony for the Kids’ Choice Awards

But as she thanked her fans for supporting her career, the camera angle changed to show Colin in the background as he brought up a bowl of thick green slime and poured it over her head.

She stopped in shock before shouting, ‘What the f***?!’

‘MTV! You get slimed!’ he shouted back.

‘That’s f***ing Nickeloden!’ an angry Scarlett replied as he said he was ‘very sorry.’

She asked where he even found the slime as he started to sheepishly back away.

‘Amazon,’ he replied, before adding, ‘Love you.’

Host Leslie Jones, 53, made an uproarious start to the ceremony with a WandaVision-themed parody.

The hilarious segment showed her traveling through television history and shaking things up, though she was coaxed out of the TV world after learning that the MTV Movie & TV Awards were being hosted by a Black woman — herself.

She played an Urkel-like character in the Family Matters parody Leslie Matters.

Another parody poked fun at The Jeffersons, with her taking the lead.

This year’s ceremony is a two-night takeover, with MTV Movie & TV Awards: UNSCRIPTED airing the next day to cover the world of reality television.

In her anger she grew to monumental size to go to battle with the giant lizard and the massive ape.

Afterward, she became one of the night’s winners when she took home the golden popcorn for Best Comedic Performance for Coming 2 America.

She was flanked by dancers in grass skirts as she accepted her award.

Best Kiss went out to Chase Stokes and Madelyn Cline for their Netflix series Outer Banks.

Fittingly, they gave a repeat performance for the audience.

Winning the award for best fight were Elizabeth Olsen and Kathryn Hahn, who starred in Disney+’s WandaVision as Wanda and Agatha.

Elizabeth teased that they might do their own kiss on stage, which Kathryn sounded into, but she quickly added that she was just kidding.

They also mimed a fight without the help of professionals, which looked incredibly fake and low-impact.

Anthony Mackie returned to the stage afterward when he and his costar Sebastian Stan won Best Duo for The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, though his partner in crime wasn’t able to join him.

He concluded his speech by joking that he was unemployed now.

Sacha Baron Cohen made one of the most hilarious and best reviewed films of 2020 with his Borat sequel Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, so it was appropriate that he was being honored with the Comedic Genius award.

Seth Rogen did the honors of introducing him while sharing that Sacha gave him one of his first big jobs as a joke writer on Da Ali G Show.

‘He makes the most annoying one of our friends do a horrible impression of him every time someone brings up their wife,’ he joked.

The Freaks & Geeks star also saluted Cohen for putting himself in ‘physically and legally precarious situations,’ like ‘standing well within a horny Rudy Giuliani’s ejaculate radius — and Rudy Giuliani has a notoriously wide ejaculate radius.’

Anthony Mackie made a third appearance later in the show to present the award for Most Frightened Performance.

Victoria Pedretti was the lucky winner for The Haunting Of Bly Manner, which was inspired by Henry James’ novella The Turn Of The Screw.

The series was an unconnected sequel to the The Haunting Of Hill House, which Pedretti also starred in.

Victoria said she admired her character because ‘she actually walks directly toward the things she fears continuously,’ which she urged audience members to do.

She also joked that she hoped to do some work that was ‘a little less devastating’ after making her name with two horror series.
