24 Hours in A&E viewers left ‘screeching’ at dislocated ankle

24 Hours in A&E viewers were left ‘wincing’ over last night’s episode as they watched doctors fix a man’s dislocated ankle – while he screamed in pain.

In this week’s episode Zac Bhatti, 30, from London, was rushed into the emergency room after his ankle had snapped under him while he was playing football.

After doctors at St George’s Hospital gave him morphine to ease the pain, one snapped his ankle back in place with a cringe-inducing clicking sound.

Viewers said they could barely watch the gruesome scenes, with one saying they ‘screeched out loud’.

Zac was brought in by ambulance accompanied by his friend Adam, who said he was ‘screaming’ in pain after being injured in a match they both played in.

Two members of the other team were approaching Zac so he quickly spun around to get away, fracturing his ankle in the process.

Adam explained: ‘He was on the floor screaming in pain, he had his leg raised but his foot was the other way around.

‘Instantly it’s like a shiver goes down your spine. When the ambulance crew came he asked me the question ”Is it bad?” and it was the worst thing I’ve ever seen.’

Doctors explained that the muscle force in Zac’s leg had gone right through it, dislocating the bone.

This can be very dangerous if the fracture cuts off blood supply to the limb, and can even lead to amputation.

Zac screamed expletives as a doctor pushed his ankle back in place, leaving viewers ‘wincing’.

One tweeted: ‘Oh my God that crack putting that poor fellas ankle back in place,I could feel the pain,I reckon my neighbors even heard me shout.’

‘Wow! That ankle fracture on #24hoursinaande though!?!?’ another said, followed by a vomitting emoji.

A third posted: ‘Oooh hands up if you just winced and curled up when that ankle cracked but strangely satisfying! 24 hours in A&E.’

Doctors then put his leg in a cast while they looked after his X-ray results, which confirmed that he would need surgery.

Zac had to undergo two operations and have seven metal pins put in his leg so he could walk again, and was told he couldn’t play football for another six months.

He said: ‘If I’ve had a bad day, someone’s annoyed me, I can always take my anger out on the football and come off the pitch feeling like I’ve got rid of all that tension

‘The thought of being in a position where I’m never going to be able to play football again just absolutely kills me inside.’

For now Zac is back on the mend and has recently become engaged, after worrying that he would be the last of his friends to settle down.

He said: ‘For now it’s just trying to start walking without looking like I’m auditioning for The Walking Dead.

‘I’m basking in the ambiance of happiness.’
