Ben Fordham called an ABC panellist and academic a ‘fruitcake’ after she slammed prime minister Scott Morrison for being out of touch because he eats white bread.
The 2GB Radio host addressed the comments made by Nareen Young, a professor for Indigenous Policy at the University of Technology in Sydney, on ABC’s The Drum where she attacked Mr Morrison’s credibility over his choice of toast.
‘I think the comment about bread, white bread, this week was really interesting. Who eats white bread in this country? Anglo men,’ she told the program after Mr Morrison said he was a ‘white bread man’.
‘I think it shows a deep lack of understanding as to who works in this country. I think that there’s a deep intersection of race and class.’
Fordham said the ABC shouldn’t have allowed the ‘nutty professor’ to go to air.
‘If that isn’t the worst political take ever, it’s on the podium,’ he said.

Ben Fordham labelled Ms Young the ‘nutty professor’ and a ‘fruitcake’ for slamming the PM over his choice of bread
Fordham said the segment was ‘like a comedy sketch’ and her words had instead made her look out of touch.
‘Professor Nareen Young decided this was an issue, not that the PM didn’t know the price of bread but the type of bread he eats,’ he said.
‘You may want to keep her logic in mind when you head to the supermarket this afteronon if you’re a white anglo man, don’t go buying Tip Top or Wonder White.
‘Are we allowed to eat Turkish bread?’
The 2GB host then played a clip where Professor Young revealed her past with Mr Morrison’s opposition in the upcoming federal election.
The UTS lecturer said during an interview with the ABC last week about the Labor leader she has ‘known him for a really long time’.
‘He was the best man at our wedding,’ she said in response to a question whether anyone knew what Mr Albanese stood for.
‘She hates the PM and she also has a special relationship with Anthony Albanese,’ Fordham responded.
‘Please tell me professor, you weren’t selling white bread on those little side plates.
‘Please tell me you had brown bread or multigrain.’

Mr Morrison kickstarted the furore last week after telling Sunrise: ‘I’m just normal white bread, white toast man. That’s me.’
During a program that aired last week and has since resurfaced on social media, host Ellen Fanning asked Professor Young a question about why politicians often think of tradies and miners as ‘battlers’, rather than aged care workers or casual hospitality workers.
Prof. Young said ‘I don’t know that all politicians have that lack of understanding of what workers look like in this country.
‘I think the comment about bread, white bread this week was really interesting. Who eats white bread in this country? Anglo men.
‘I come from a working class background. We had brown bread – because we were healthy.
The bizarre comments followed Mr Morrison being caught out when he admitted he didn’t know the price of bread – the PM was widely accused of being out of touch
Prof. Young’s comments come after the PM said earlier this month failed to name the price of bread and petrol.
Mr Morrison was left stumped when asked at the National Press Club to list the price of a loaf of bread, a litre of petrol and a rapid antigen test.
‘I’m not going to pretend to you that I go out each day and I buy a loaf of bread and I buy a litre of milk,’ he admitted.
Morrison was panned in some sections after he was caught out, and later clarified on breakfast television that he had since done his research and now knew how much a loaf of bread would cost.
Prof. Young’s comments resurfaced on social media this week with several right-leaning Twitter users hitting out.
Sandy Lanceley tweeted ‘I can’t believe these people are real’ while sharing vision of Prof. Young addressing the situation.
A number of people sided with Lanceley, who felt Young’s scathing criticism of the PM was excessive.
‘Lord help us, if this is a serious comment,’ wrote one.
Another questioned if Young’s opinion was meant to be satirical, while a third felt Ms Young displayed ‘a deep lack of understanding.’
Professor Young (pictured right) also revealed she knows Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese personally
Prime Minister Scott Morrison was left red-faced recently after admitting he didn’t know how much a loaf of bread cost as his wife Jenny does the grocery shopping
Lanceley’s post included video of Prof. Young admitting during a separate appearance on the show that she knows Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese personally. He was a guest at her wedding.
Prof Young has been dubbed ‘one of the most respected and leading Australian workplace diversity practitioners and thinkers’ and has also worked as a Director of Indigenous Consulting with finance firm Price Waterhouse Coopers.
Additionally, she was the chief executive of the Diversity Council of Australia.
Daily Mail Australia approached Prof. Young for comment.
