5 interesting news about horse racing that you might want to know

Horse racing is one of the most intriguing sporting events, complete with fast-paced action, cheering crowds, and beautiful horse breeds with rich racing pedigrees. Each year, various tournaments are held to determine the best breeders, horses, and riders or jockeys.

And like any other sport with enough viewership and fans, live horse racing is featured on many online betting websites, allowing for fan engagement in real-time. Platforms like Unibet provide their users with a mobile app that can be used on smartphones or tablets.

Events are also televised and can be streamed remotely, making it one of the many sports to have adopted technological innovations. That said, here are some interesting news pieces on horse racing you might want to know about:

Grand National 2022

Aintree will play host to the 2022 tournament on the 9th of April. The Grand National kicks off at 5:15 p.m. BST, with 40 runners in the tournament, who will be declared on the 7th of April 2022, merely two days before the event kicks off.

The history of the Grand National is littered with serial winners. Still, none come close to Red Rum, who clinched the title three consecutive times between 1973 and 1974, and then again in 1977 when it came in 13.

Cyberknife Pulls Arkansas Derby Upset

Cyberknife ran out first place winner in the Arkansas Derby, racking up the title for the most significant bag in a prep race ahead of the Kentucky Derby. Florent Geroux, who championed the horse to victory, covered 1⅛ miles in 1:50.42. The colt of only three years bagged 100 qualification points ahead of the derby on the 7th of May 2022.

The 2022 Grand National: Trainers to Watch

Ted Walsh has been the trainer of a Grand National winner after Ruby, his son, rode Papillon to victory in 2000.

However, Walsh’s go-to horse for the 2022 Grand National is Any Second Now, who was seen off to third in the 2021 tournament behind Minella Times. Walsh’s horse goes in after a great run of form at the Bobbyjo Chase at Fairyhouse.

White Abarrio sees off Charge It threat to secure Florida Derby Win

White Abarri whistled down the track to lift the title at the Florida Derby, leading other horses by a stretch. In the last-ditch effort, the horse saw off Charge It to secure all 100 qualifications points for the Kentucky Derby.

Constitution Hill’s Team Undecided on Honeysuckle Target

Michael Buckley, owner of 5-year-old star Bay Gelding, Constitution Hill, will sit for a chat with Nicky Henderson in the coming week. The duo will decide the next racing event for the horse to partake in at the Punchestown Festival.

Buckley’s Gelding had clock-watchers beaming as it overcame the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle in record time. Hill’s record was much faster than the time which landed Honeysuckle its second Champion Hurdle some two hours into the event.

Constitution Hill’s time has got Buckley thinking about pitting his gelding against Honeysuckle’s continuous winning streak.

But, on the other hand, Henderson isn’t so keen on the pairing, given that Hill is relatively a new mane in the industry with a career record of three races under rules.

So while Henderson doesn’t believe that the tie is impossible, he’d much rather they took their time with Constitution Hill.
