It seems Australian women are in dire need of a break as a nationwide survey reveals 69 per cent would rather go on a holiday than have sex.

The study, conducted by travel booking site Agoda, asked 1,000 participants what pleasure gives them the most buzz: holidaying, exercising, going on a big night out, eating chocolate strawberries or sex.

The prospect of passion pales in comparison to the thought of travelling for women Down Under with just 13 percent preferring intimacy to a trip.

While the majority of Australian men also prefer holidays to any other option, 36 percent listed sex as their top priority.

South Australia gets the biggest buzz from a night between the sheets (28 percent), closely followed by Queensland and WA (27 percent) and New South Wales (23 percent).

Victorians get the least amount of thrill from sex with just 21 percent listing it as their number one activity.

Gen X – ages 45 to 54 – are Australia’s most frisky group, with 30 percent favouring sex versus just 20 percent of 18 to 24-year-old’s.

The top three thrills for those aged 18 to 24 are holidays, sex and a wild night out.

Interestingly, five percent of Australians would rather indulge in a single chocolate covered strawberry than get frisky or go on holiday.

In South Australia, this figure rose to 12 percent.

Only seven percent of Australians claimed exercise gave them the biggest thrill.

So those stories about getting a runner’s high simply aren’t true.

Young people aged 18 to 24 and 25 to 35 are more stimulated by exercise than any other category.
