7-Eleven employees are punched and pelted with snacks after they refused to sell to underage girl

Shocking surveillance footage shows the moment at least eight suspects engaged in a heated attack on two 7-Eleven clerks – after they refused to sell a cigar to an underage girl.

Now being slammed as a ‘senseless act of violence’, the Saturday night attack happened at one of the chain’s stores in small-town Texas, and saw the female staffers struck several times and pelted with snacks from the shelves.

The violence started around 9pm – after one of the clerks seen in the footage refused to sell the tobacco product to a member of the party who was under the age of 21, leading her to return with the rest of the juveniles.

After a brief exchange of words, the attack ensued – and its entirety was caught on camera.

Despite this, detectives in the Dallas suburb are still looking for the perpetrators, who remain at large. They are seen hitting and throwing items at the victims, with some even hopping over the counter to carry out the assault.

‘This was absolutely a senseless act of violence,’ said Lieutenant Brandon Ricketts Monday, as cops continued to search for the suspect – believed to be eight in number.

‘That young lady [after being denied the cigar] said, ‘well I’m going to get my friends and come back.’ And that’s what she did.’

Video of the attack quickly surfaced online and has since gone viral – leading cops to later concede that they only became aware of the footage’s existence after seeing it posted by a slew of third parties.

The roughly 300-strong force, however, has confirmed the clip is legitimate – filmed from one of the Faithon P. Lucas Boulevard store’s many cameras.

The distressing clip shows how a simple verbal altercation between one of the clerks, a woman, and the girl quickly escalated to a physical encounter – with several punches thrown and the staffer relentlessly pelted with food products.

The other clerk, also a woman, became involved as she witnessed the attack happening, cops said – attempting to intervene as multiple male members of the hopped over the cash register to rain blows on the duo.

Speaking to NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth, Ricketts recounted how the attack transpired, revealing both of the employees were punched several times in the face – sustaining only minor injuries.

‘Two males jump the counter and begin assaulting the clerk,’ Ricketts said of the footage, which is now in police hands.

‘Another clerk sees this, she tries to intervene, another female clerk, and then she also gets assaulted.’

When asked whether the attack was triggered by the store clerk’s refusal to sell the cigar to the under-21-year-old, the lawman – with a look of disgust – responded: ‘Correct.’

Speaking to Fox 4 Monday, Lt. Ricketts lamented how a group of youngsters could engage in such a senseless assault, attacking workers who were abiding by the law and trying to earn a paycheck.

‘The clerks were just doing their job. They were trying to make a living,’ the officer said.

Customers Ashanti Ferrell added: ‘Somebody could’ve lost their life or, you know, a different situation,’ Ferrell said.

‘I feel like somebody started it, and then you are with the group and you already there, so they just went on with the situation, but I don’t think that was very wise for them to do.’

Police, meanwhile, have said the incident serves as a stark reminder for parents to keep an eye on their kids as the summer gets into full swing.

‘Know who they’re hanging around with, know what they’re up to, because it’s hard for me to believe that any of them on their own would’ve done something like this,’ Ricketts said, revealing the employees sustained busted lips and other minor injuries.

‘But you start hanging around the wrong crowd, you start doing things that you normally wouldn’t do — next thing you know you have a criminal history that follows you around the rest of your life.’

Neither of the staffers were hospitalized and Fox 4 reported that both showed up at work Monday, but declined an interview due to company policy.

The search for the suspects linked to the assault, meanwhile, continues.
