Hoda Kotb shares picture of Haley Joy cheering for Saints

Hoda Kotb and her daughter Haley Joy cheered on the New Orleans Saints together this weekend, which made for a cute photo of the co-anchor’s 11-month-old daughter.

The host, 53, took to Instagram yesterday to share an adorable snap of Haley during the NLF playoff game between the Saints and the Carolina Panthers.

Haley, who will turn one this Valentine’s Day, can be seen rising her little arms in the air to support the New Orleans team, sitting with her mother to enjoy the viewing.

Hoda shared the photo with the caption ‘Hip hip hooray!!!!’, an optimistic message that reflected the Saints’ 31-to-26 victory against the Panthers.

The anchor lived in New Orleans in the 1990s while working for the local CBS affiliate, WWL-TV.

Hoda’s viewing session with Haley came as she enjoyed her first weekend after being promoted to co-anchor of the Today show with Savannah Guthrie. The move came following Matt Lauer’s firing after he was accused of sexual harassment.

On Friday, her colleague Carson Daly revealed on Instagram that his children, Jackson James, eight, Etta Jones, five, and London Rose, three, had baked her cookies to mark her first week in her new role, but that he had accidentally left them at home.

‘Here are the cookies & sign kids made for you that I forgot to bring into work because I suck. We love you!’ Carson wrote next to images of the baked treats and a drawing reading ‘Congrats Hoda!’

During the weekend, Hoda also spent some quality time with her co-anchor Savannah, 46.

The pair spent their Saturday night together goofing off at a restaurant, snapping selfies with each other and sharing them with their followers on Instagram.

‘It’s ladies night and the feeling’s right!’ Savannah wrote in the caption for the image of herself and Hoda grinning away, surrounded by little hearts.

Hoda was named the official co-anchor of the Today show on Tuesday, nearly five weeks after Matt Lauer’s firing.

The announcement was made at the top of the show Tuesday morning, with her co-anchor Guthrie saying: ‘This has to be the most popular decision NBC has ever made and I’m so thrilled.’

Hoda, smiling and then wiping away tears, responded: ‘I’m pinching myself. I think we should send some medics to Alexandria, Virginia where my mom has likely fainted after hearing the opening of that show.’

They then replayed the opening of the show, in which Hoda’s named was announced as a co-anchor, as is tradition on an anchor’s first day.

This news came a month after an NBC source told DailyMail.com that Hoda would be co-hosting with Guthrie for the ‘foreseeable future.’

‘Hoda you are a partner and a friend and a sister and I am so happy to be doing this,’ Guthrie said.

‘Well there’s no one I’d rather be sitting next to in 2018 than you,’ Hoda told her co-anchor.

Hoda has been filling in for Matt alongside Savannah ever since his surprise firing at the end of November.

Since then, the show has been pulling in record ratings, beating their rival Good Morning America in total viewers every week since Matt’s departure.

After the announcement was made on Tuesday, People released their upcoming cover which features Hoda and Savannah.

The magazine released a snippet of its cover story, in which Hoda and Savannah talked about their relationship and Matt’s firing.

‘We know he’s working on his family, we know that for sure. Of course our hearts go out to the brave women who have told their stories,’ Savannah told the magazine.

‘What we are experiencing and processing now is how to honor and remain a true friend to someone even in spite of learning things that are deeply disturbing. And we are trying to navigate that path with integrity.’

Hoda said she was never out for Matt’s job after his firing, but was offered it just before the holidays.

‘We were just trying to make it through those days together,’ she said.

‘Sometimes when you go through something with someone, you see something special. I think that’s what happened. I didn’t think about whether it would be me.’

The NBC News Group chairman Andy Lack also spoke to the magazine, saying: ‘We’re very fortunate to have someone like Hoda who brings immense talent and tremendous positive energy, and then on top of that happens to have wonderful chemistry with Savannah. It makes this a decision that everyone can embrace and feel terrific about.’

Hoda has been a staple on the Today show since 2008, when she started co-hosting the fourth hour with Katie Lee Gifford.

In March, she was promoted to a position in the earlier hours of the show, regularly sitting alongside Savannah and Matt to weigh in on the news of the day.
