The former Nine US correspondent kissed his artist fiancé in the snaps shared from their special moment, announcing to his fans that she had said yes.
‘I managed not to drop the ring – I popped the question – and heard a yes through the tears,’ Denham said, as he showed off his ripped torso shirtless in the water.
‘We met while surfing so it only seemed fitting that the next chapter also started in the ocean… Afterwards I realized I should have done it earlier as she stopped stealing my waves,’ he cheekily added.

Mari shared the pictures to her Instagram, writing: ‘My happiness is bigger than the ocean, and so is our love. Incredible day, stunning location. I nearly missed the big question as I saw a turtle and wanted to paddle after it and Denham is like no ‘come here for a photo’ haha. Sneaky. We are so happy.’

The romantic surf proposal may have been in the works for some time, as Denham gifted his now-fiancé with a new board for Christmas.
Mari had previously suffered a spinal injury, which had kept her away from the surf.
At Christmas, she wrote on Instagram: ‘Yaaaay! So happy with my Xmas present. It’s been over 6 weeks of my spinal injury and I’m trying to stay out of the surf for a bit longer but @DenhamHitchcock gives me this gorgeous handshaped by #warnersurfboards that I had to take it for a paddle. Only half an hour with little discomfort but already amazing just to be back in the water. Can’t wait for an actual surf session!’
