Robin Bailey opens up about husband’s suicide

She lost her husband to suicide three years ago.

And Robin Bailey has once again spoken about the tragic death of her husband Tony Smart following the death of Amy ‘Dolly’ Everett.

Speaking to Today on Thursday, the radio host revealed how she regularly takes her 17-year-old’s son to check he is not at risk.

‘Three years ago he made a choice which has impacted all of us for the rest of our lives’: Robin Bailey opens up about husband’s suicide after tragic death of outback teen ‘Dolly’

Robin told Sylvia Jeffreys she was devastated by the tragic death of 14-year-old ‘Dolly’.

The Northern Territory teen took her own life last week after being bullied on social media.

‘I think back to my husband now and I think that he would have been happy, but in that moment three years ago he made a choice that has impacted all of us for the rest of our lives,’ Robin said.

‘That’s exactly what Dolly’s family is going through.’

Visibly emotional, Robin continued: ‘As you can tell it is very personal for me Sylvia.

‘You just want to reach through the camera and say to these kids ”just stay with us, seek help, talk to people and make sure you are OK”.’

Praising the efforts of Dolly grief-stricken family, who want to establish a trust to raise awareness about bullying and mental health, Robin encouraged parents to find out what their kids were doing online.

‘Parents need to know what their kids are doing online and I think most of us don’t,’ Robin said.
