Horror dog attack as amputee is dragged from her wheelchair and has her ear chomped off during a mauling by two canines

A female amputee has had her ear bitten off during a horrifying attack from two canines on a picturesque tropical island.

Emergency services were called to Sailor Street on Palm Island, about 40km off the coast of Townsville, just before 9pm on Monday night after reports a 51-year-old woman had been attacked by two dogs.

The Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed the woman was transported to Palm Island hospital with stable injuries to her hands and face.

Queensland Police believe the woman was pulled from her wheelchair and bitten multiple times on her face, neck and arms.

Her right ear is believed to have been completely ripped off during the attack.

The rural indigenous community are searching for the dogs responsible for the attack, likely to be euthanised
