New York Giants rookie Malik Nabers was enjoying his breakout performance against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday until an unfortunate fall in the game’s final moments left him with a concussion.
The former LSU star receiver was attempting to make a diving catch along the sideline, but appeared to land head first before laying nearly motionless on the turf for a few moments. He was promptly taken to the injury tent, where he was examined before returning to the locker room.
Meanwhile, back on the field, Giants (1-3) quarterback Daniel Jones was being intercepted on a final desperate Hail Mary, allowing the Cowboys (2-2) to escape with a 20-15 victory.
Nabers finished with a game-high 123 catches for 115 yards before the injury.
He was productive in his previous three starts, making 23 catches for 271 yards and even a pair of touchdowns. But against the Cowboys, the sixth-overall pick of April’s NFL Draft exceeded the loftiest expectations.
