Dad driving with his two young children is airlifted to hospital with head injuries after his car was struck by a roll of chicken wire which fell out the back of a truck

  • The crash occurred on Big River Way in Swan Creek at about 6pm on August 6 
  • He was airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital with serious head injuries
  • A girl, 8, and a boy, 3, were passengers and were luckily unharmed in the crash

A 35-year-old man has suffered serious head and chest injuries after hitting a roll of chicken wire while driving his car.

He was making his way down Big River Way in Swan Creek near Grafton when the man’s Mazda Bravo struck the wire at about 6pm on August 6.

The man was treated by paramedics at the scene and his children, an eight-year-old girl and three-year-old boy, were luckily unharmed in the back seat.

The man suffered serious head and chest injuries and was airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital (pictured) in a critical condition

He was taken to South Grafton before being airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition. 

Police believe the sedan struck a roll of chicken wire which fell off the back of a vehicle.

Officers from Coffs Harbour and Clarence Police Districts attended the scene where they found the injured driver and an investigation was established.
