A Current Affair: hoarder in Sydney refuses to put pants on when confronted by TV crew

Extraordinary moment a PANTLESS hoarder is begged to put on clothes by a baffled TV crew – as he reveals why he’s plagued neighbours with his waste-filled yard

  • A Sydney man turned his friend’s yard into a rubbish dump after moving in
  • Neighbours in the Mt Druitt street in Sydney’s west have complained to council
  • The man known as Dave refused to put pants on when confronted by news crew

A TV crew begged a rubbish hoarder who amassed huge piles of trash outside his friend’s house to put pants on, as they confronted him on behalf of neighbours.

Dave is staying at his friend Sue’s house in Mt Druitt in Sydney’s West, but quickly turned the yard into a garbage dump after he moved in two years ago.

Piles of garden clippings, household rubbish, and building scrap materials reach as high as the guttering, while the front of an old car sits on the roof.

Reporter Hannah Sinclair from A Current Affair recently visited the property after complaints from other residents in the street, only to be greeted by a pants-less Dave in his underwear.

He’s been given 28 days by council to removed the rubbish and told the crew, half-dressed from his driveway, that he wants neighbours to ‘mind their own business’ and that he will get the mess cleared up.

‘You can put some pants on and tell us that Dave,’ Ms Sinclair replied.

Dave eventually calmed down and revealed how the rubbish had piled up, but opted against pants for the interview.

‘Honest to God I don’t know what I was thinking… I nearly turned into a hoarder,’ he said.

He added he ‘had an absolute ball’ collecting and going through the trash but now felt bad and told the crew that he ‘wants it gone today’ and to ‘take it with them’.

Sue, who has lived at the house for forty years, also wants the rubbish gone, claiming it is making her sick.

While Dave admits he ‘made a big mess’ he said he didn’t feel like a bad neighbour.

‘If they want to put their hands in their wallets and get me a skip bin then no problem.’

‘It’s just a stage that I went through. I’m over it, tell them to get the f*** over it.’

Blacktown Council said they have received numerous complaints about the property since 2019 and it is the subject of two different investigations.

‘There are claims someone is paid to take rubbish from elsewhere and dump it on the property,’ council said in a statement.

Council has given the owner 28 days to have the rubbish removed and said it will take ‘regulatory action if they fail to comply’.

Dave said: ‘I’m sure people in TV land have made mistakes well I’ve made one, help me clean this up’ but added that his neighbour’s could ‘f*** off’.

The program said it would look into getting Dave a skip bin.
