Three people were arrested and charged earlier this month in relation to the same plot.

Paul Smith, 58, and Jeffrey Sagar, 63, appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court on June 18 on charges of importing a commercial quantity of cocaine after Australian Federal Police swooped on houses in the Sydney suburbs of Rozelle and Maroubra.

Both are expected to apply for bail at their next appearance on July 6.

A 34-year-old woman was also charged with dealing in proceeds of crime following a raid at Logan, south of Brisbane.

She was granted bail and will reappear in court in July.

The AFP alleges Smith and Sagar were the ‘key organisers’ of a criminal syndicate that was planning to import 300kg of cocaine into the country.

The cocaine was going to be imported via Singapore and Papua New Guinea and then be taken by a small boat via the Torres Strait into Queensland, the AFP also alleges.
