A look at Cody Simpson’s VERY famous love life

Cody Simpson is back in the headlines after being linked to Olympic swimmer Emma McKeon.

And it turns out that Emma is just the latest in a long line of high profile females that have been linked to the 25-year-old Australian singer.

From Miley Cyrus to a member of the Kardashian clan, Cody’s love life certainly isn’t lacking star power. 

Cody’s first girlfriend was Kylie Jenner, 24, who he met shortly after arriving in Los Angeles to pursue his music career.

The pair dated from age 14 to 15, and at one point enjoyed a double date with Kylie’s sister Kim Kardashian and Kanye West.

‘At the time, Kanye was with Kim,’ he told Nova’s Fitzy and Wippa.

‘So I ended up going to a dinner in New York and sitting next to him. I was 15 at that time. I’m sitting next to Kanye at this dinner. You know, he’s really nice.’

After splitting with Kylie, Cody moved on to then-budding supermodel Gigi Hadid, 27.

The couple were together from 2013 to 2015, and often partied with other members of young Hollywood at the time like Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez. 

Despite their split, Cody said that he had nothing but love for the American beauty.

‘I dated Gigi Hadid for two years and have always enjoyed being with independent women who are strong individuals,’ he told the Sydney Morning Herald in 2020.

‘I have never really been heartbroken in the deepest sense, but I have been disappointed in relationships,’ he added.

From there, Cody bounced back with OnlyFans model and swimwear designer Sahara Ray, 29.

After their short-lived fling, Sahara briefly dated Cody’s good friend Justin Bieber.

Cody kept the celebrity girlfriends up, dating Lindsay Lohan’s model sister Ali Lohan, 28, for a period of time in 2018.

‘I dated Lindsay’s sister for a little while and I lived in this little beach shack in Venice in California,’ he told Fitzy & Wippa in 2019.

‘And I didn’t have a bed, just a mattress on the floor, by choice. I just didn’t really care, you know. They came into the house and kept like, ordering me stuff and it would show up to the house. [Lindsay] bought me a bed frame.’

Cody went for another model after that, dating Clair Wuestenberg, 27, in 2018 before going through a very bitter breakup.

‘My boyfriend broke up with me, and in a really, really s****y way,’ she wrote via Instagram Stories at the time. ‘I’d like to tell everybody about it, but I’m sure it would be not so good for his career, so I’ll keep it quiet.’

From there, he moved on to his most high profile relationship, Miley Cyrus, 29.

The couple hooked up in 2019 shortly after Miley’s split with husband Liam Hemsworth, and were together for 10 months before calling it quits.

‘We went from being good friends, to just having a lot of the same friends, to being together for a while,’ he told 60 Minutes last year.

‘Everything ended fairly amicably, and it was just one of those phases I guess. You go through [it] and you learn a lot from it.’

He later said that he ended things with Miley to focus on his swimming career.

Cody next dated Marloes Steven, 29, with the Belgian-born American model following him to Australia as he trained for swimming competitions after they went public in early 2021.  

Sources close to the couple say that Simpson’s dedication to his swimming career ultimately took precedence over his personal life, with Stevens also said to be homesick for her native Los Angeles. 

However Stevens, who returned to the US in mid-November 2021, has alluded to a not-so-amicable break-up with a series of cryptic messages on Instagram.

One note, posted on Simpson’s birthday, read: ‘Fall in love with someone who will take care of you – not in a materialistic way, but rather, fall in love with someone who will take care of your soul’. 

It’s now Cody’s rumoured romance with Olympian Emma McKeon that’s really got people talking.

According to The Daily Telegraph, Cody and Emma, 27, are ‘completely smitten’ and ‘moved in together in recent weeks’.

The publication understands they travel to and from training together each morning, and have refrained from PDA in an attempt to keep their budding romance private.

‘They are absolutely together. There is no doubt they are an item,’ an insider reportedly told The Daily Telegraph, adding that they have ‘fallen for one another’. 

Emma’s reported ex-boyfriend, fellow swimmer Kyle Chalmers, has lashed out at speculation a love triangle is behind him going back on his decision to sit out the 100m butterfly at the upcoming world championships, in a move that has almost certainly ruined Cody’s dream of competing at the event.

Simpson appeared to have booked himself a spot at the worlds when he finished third in the event at the national swimming championships on Wednesday night, behind Chalmers and winner Matt Temple.

Australia can only field two representatives and Simpson was expected to make it because Chalmers would drop out due to his busy schedule and need to preserve his body after picking up serious injuries.

However, on Thursday night the freestyle gold medalist backflipped and said he is keen to swim the 100m butterfly, leaving Simpson out in the cold.

The move led to speculation he could have been motivated by the fact Simpson is now ‘completely smitten’ with his current girlfriend and Chalmers’ ex, swimming sensation Emma.

On Friday morning Chalmers reacted angrily when that was put to him.

‘It’s hugely pathetic,’ he said. ‘It’s the biggest joke I’ve ever heard, to be honest with you,’ he told 2DAY FM.

‘I think for me, I started out a butterflyer, I’ve wanted to be a butterflyer my whole career. My body just hasn’t allowed me to do so, so for me just being able to swim butterfly is so special.’

‘Unfortunately, yeah, I’m the one who has to stand up and apologise and be made out to be the villain when all I’ve done is given everything to my sport and my country.’

In September last year it was reported that Chalmers was going out with Aussie pool queen Emma, who won seven medals at the Tokyo Games.

Many suspected a love triangle could be part of the motivation for the about-face but Simpson told the Amazon Prime Video commentary team on Friday the pair have spoken and ‘cleared the air’.

‘He changed his mind and that’s something he has every right to do. He earned the second spot. I didn’t come second I came third,’ Simpson said.

‘We had a chat last night. He [Chalmers] was cool, he sort of reached out and we sort of cleared the air about it. So it’s all good in that sense. I would sort of respect his decision either way.’

Simpson said his focus now is to keep improving and again be in the mix against Temple and Chalmers in his pet event ahead of the Paris Olympics in 2024.

Earlier on Friday Chalmers vented his frustration on Instagram, feeling he has been unfairly painted as a ‘villain’ after backflipping on his decision to compete in Budapest.

‘I’ve sacrificed my body and given everything to my sport and country for the past decade,’ Chalmers wrote on Instagram.

‘If I knew this was going to be the reaction and the respect I get, I would’ve never entered the race.

‘What was supposed to be an enjoyable new stimulus has turned into a unnecessary nightmare!

‘I hope the media get the clicks they want, never forget athletes are humans like everyone else.’

A follow-up message said the Australian media are a ‘bunch of buttheads’.
