It is a chance for trendy young people and lovers of the beat to dress up to the nine and enjoy the wonders of good music mixed with a healthy sprinkling of glitter.

Taking to the streets of North Wollongong on Saturday was a parade of bedazzled concertgoers covered top-to-bottom in glitter, metallic paint and galaxy-themed outfits for the MTV Beats and Eats festival.
The day featured acts such as DJ Rudimental, Yolanda Be Cool, Sachi, Nicole Millar and Tkay Maidza.
Attendees welcomed the ‘space fantasy’ fancy dress theme which sets the tone for the myriad of big music festivals which will take place over the next few months.
Revellers seems unfazed by the dreary weather and despite a biting wind later in the evening many danced the night away in sheer tops – and some even going without clothes all together under the overcast sky.
Taking centre stage on the festival ground was a sea of sequined hot-pants and mini dresses, coloured wigs, wacky braided hairstyles and mermaid-scale material.

Some punters even handmade their own costumes, like the woman pictured above who arrived in a DIY planet-themed costume
Sequin hot pants were definitely the trend of the day with countless attendees rocking the 70s-style look

Also on the scene were costumes fashioned out of mesh and lycra with beaded embellishments and metallic hues.
Some dedicated festival attendees even arrived wearing home-made costumes with tiny planets adorning their outfits and DIY headpieces which followed the space theme perfectly.
But the biggest on-trend look was for the male revellers who weren’t afraid to dip their facial hair into some sparkles to create the stylish ‘glitter beard’ look.
