A look inside the $75,000 bathroom renovation that caused Sara Vale to QUIT The Block

Sara Vale sensationally quit The Block on Sunday’s episode after her bathroom was criticised by the judges as ‘ugly’ and ‘dated’.

And stunning photographs reveal a look inside the jaw-dropping $75,000 renovation that Sara, 31, insisted ‘did not deserve to be last’.

After scoring just 22 points, the Sydney mother tearfully explained that she and husband Hayden ‘put their heart and soul’ into the renovation and resented being bottom of the leader board ‘three weeks in a row’.

Tears and tantrums: Sara Vale and her husband Hayden were left furious after finishing at last place because judges did not like their bathroom renovation on Sunday night’s episode of The Block

Judges Neale Whitaker, Shaynna Blaze and John McGrath were initially blown away by the spectacular golden brass bath tub – but it all went downhill when they turned their attention to other fixtures.

The modern bathroom featured a black and grey colour palette, which John described as overwhelming.

‘There’s too much black – black cabinetry, black tap ware, black basins. For me, it brings you down,’ he said during the judges’ critique.

The bathroom also had three black walls, which Neale described as ‘drab’, white and grey tiles, an oversized glass shower screen, a visible toilet and two hand basins with round walls mirrors above.

‘When we first walked in, I did see the toilet straight away,’ Shaynna said.

‘[The shower screen] is a little bit too close you’re like, “Oh there’s glass there, I have to move”, so it felt a little bit uncomfortable to start with.’

After learning that they had come last, Sara and Hayden criticised the producers backstage and tearfully quit the show.

‘I’ll make it quick, I’m not coming back… Again, after everything… last?’ Sara wept.

‘You’ve got to be kidding me? This is f**king embarrassing. We put our heart and soul into that!’

She continued: ‘I’m going, I’m not coming back… take your f**king mics. If we’re gonna constantly come last and be embarrassed, why would I want to be here? That bathroom did not deserve to be last.’

Sara, who is a mother to toddler Harlow Rose, explained her shocking decision to quit in an interview with TV Week on Monday.

‘As a person, you can get to a point before you explode,’ she said.

She added: ‘I told the producers I wasn’t coming back. I was really hurt and didn’t want to be there. The judges weren’t nice to us for three weeks; they were harsh. It got worse and worse, until that pivotal moment of the bathroom [judging] and I was like, ‘I’m done.”

Break down: After the scoring, Sara screamed, 'You've got to be kidding me? This is f***ing embarrassing. We put our heart and soul into that!'
