A MASSIVE overhaul of the Logies means they’ll be like never before

The 60th Annual Logie Awards will be held on the Gold Coast this coming Sunday night.

And producers have overhauled this year’s ceremony in order to make it the most memorable in history.

‘Basically, we have had to start from scratch,’ Logies Executive Producer Brent Williams told TV Tonight on Wednesday, detailing the big changes that have been made.

Since the Logies began way back in 1968, the event has only ever been held in Sydney and Melbourne.

But this year, the Logies are relocating to the Gold Coast, with the ceremony to be held at The Star on Broadbeach.

The new venue allows for a longer red carpet, meaning they’ll be extra space for TV stars to preen and pose for the cameras.

‘I think the big difference visually will be the red carpet. It’s a longer run than we were able to do in Melbourne, which means we are able to have more fans on site welcoming their favourite TV stars. It should create a sensational atmosphere,’ Brent excitedly told TV Tonight.

He also added that the relocation has been a big logistical challenge.

‘It’s a fabulous entertainment space but some additional infrastructure was required to be able to host a live television broadcast of this scale… There are so many different parties involved in pulling it all together’.

In times past, the Logie Awards have been noted for their lengthy running time, with broadcasts stretching  past three hours.

However, this year the show has been overhauled, with only 21 awards to be handed out, down from 28 last year.

Some categories have been merged together to create fresh new awards which will be up for grabs for the very first time.
