A pitch invader briefly disrupts England’s Euro 2020 final against Italy at Wembley

Pitch invader who stopped play at Wembley at the end of extra time is revealed to be attention-seeking reality TV wannabe

A pitch invader who briefly stopped play in the latter stages of England’s Euro 2020 clash against Italy was a musician who appeared on Little Mix: The Search.

Adam Harison ran onto the field at Wembley on Sunday, temporarily evading capture by several stewards before eventually being led away from the grass.

He shared an image of himself being escorted from the pitch following his stunt, writing: ‘At the end of the day… I love my country and I did this all for a good time. Nothing but love and respect for England tonight.’

Harison was a member of boyband New Priority on BBC’s Little Mix: The Search.

He had earlier posted several videos of himself arriving at the stadium ahead of the clash, which saw England lose out on the Euro 2020 title to Italy.

In a later post, he shared an image of himself on the pitch with the caption: ‘Well that was fun.’

Harison had hurdled over advertising hoardings shirtless before managing to evade several stewards while yards away from Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

He was eventually stopped and led away from the field.

BBC commentator Guy Mowbray said: ‘Somebody will be going home much sooner than they wanted to I suspect. It’s not what anybody wanted.

Marco Verratti seemed to find the funny side, while Harry Maguire looked on in frustration.

John Stones had possession before play was stopped as referee Bjorn Kuipers dropped the ball at the Manchester City centre back’s feet to restart.

England and Italy eventually played out another 30 minutes after the pitch invader was dealt with – but could still not be separated following extra time.

The Three Lions suffered yet another heartbreaking defeat on penalties as the Azzurri claimed a 3-2 win at Wembley to be crowned Champions of Europe.

Jordan Pickford made two saves from Andrea Belotti and Jorginho, but his England players couldn’t come through as Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Bukayo Saka all missed their efforts from the spot.
