A five-bedroom property dubbed ‘The Nest’ has sold for a record-breaking $7.5million in an inner-city suburb of Queensland, and it’s easy to see why it was snapped up after only 10 days on the market.

The sprawling oasis at 59 Nestor Avenue in Bardon comes with four bathrooms and four parking spaces, making it the ultimate family home, and is just 7km away from Brisbane’s CBD.

Its name comes from not only the street address but also the fact it acts as a ‘nest’ on the 4,240m2 block size, tucked away on a block that borders dense bushland.

Marketing agent Heath Williams said the sale price ranges between $7.5 and $8million but the total sum will remain private.

The previous record for the Bardon region was $4.55million and was set in 2016.

Architect Shaun Lockyer was charged with bringing the design concept to life and wanted to make it feel as though the owner was living on acreage – even though they’re technically city slickers.

So he positioned the house on one side of the property so it wouldn’t overwhelm the entire grounds and scattered bushes and trees along the outskirts of it to give the illusion of great depth.

Mr Lockyer was inspired by 1950s and 60s modernism, Domain reported, where houses had sprawling, flat lawns; bountiful areas for children to play.

While it’s technically a three-storey homestead the majority of the ‘living’ space is along the bottom level, with easy access to the pool, tennis court and fire pit should you have guests.

Meanwhile the bedrooms and bathrooms have windows that take advantage of the cityscape, so you can still get a sense of the area you’re surrounded by.

A 1,000 bottle wine cellar and gym elevate the luxurious nature of the property and gives it a celebrity styling, ensuring the owners want to actually spend time at home, whether they’re looking for a quiet night in or to throw a lavish party.

‘What great architects nail is they provide an emotional response,’ agent Heath Williams said.

‘This house is one of the best houses in Brisbane and it gives you that emotional response.’
