A windshield viper! Snake appears from bonnet as pregnant woman drives home

  • Cassandra Tan, 36, from Singapore was driving home at around midnight
  • At first she believed the snake was a rubber tube poking out of the engine
  • An animal handler from the National Parks Board came to remove the snake

This is the moment a pregnant woman films a snake popping out of the front of her car after first suspecting that the slithering creature was a rubber tube.

Housewife Cassandra Tan, 36, was on her way home in Queenstown in the island city-state of Singapore at around midnight when she noticed something poking out of the front of her car, initially believing it was a rubber tube.

However, when it kept vanishing and reappearing again, the pregnant woman suddenly realised there was a snake in her engine.

She told local media: ‘It came up several times, and after about the fifth time or so I realised it was a snake.

‘I was scared and didn’t know how to deal with it. What if it was poisonous?’

The 36-year-old woman immediately called her husband who refused to believe her at first. She said: ‘He thought I was hallucinating!’

She continued her journey home and filmed the snake so that she could show her husband the footage.

However, when she got home the couple tried to find the snake but to no avail.

The couple drove to a nearby petrol station to look for the snake under the lights, but again were unsuccessful.

Just as they were about to return home, the snake appeared on the car’s windscreen at around 1am.

According to reports, they called the local authorities and kept the one-metre-long reptile under a cardboard box until an animal handler from the National Parks Board arrived on the scene.

Cassandra said: ‘I didn’t want to kill the animal, I just wanted to get it out alive.’
